Son of Laughter
Day 4 Synopsis: Here is where we are introduced to Abraham and Sarah. This is the beginning of a relationship between God and His chosen people, The Jews. He told Abraham to leave his family and go to a faraway land that Abraham didn't know. What a leap of faith to leave the comforts of home and travel on camels and live in tents.
God also decided to take a man who was old and childless to demonstrate that God is capable of doing what He wants, when He wants to do it. He promised Abraham that he would have more descendants (the Jewish people) than the stars in the sky. For this to happen would take a miracle because Abraham was 99 and Sarah was 90 when their son Isaac was born. It seemed impossible. But my God is a God of the impossible. I think He relishes in doing what we think can't be done, just to show His awesome power.
This story foreshadows another amazing and miraculous birth that would happen centuries later. Jesus was to be born of a virgin, and He was to be completely God and fully man at the same time. If that isn't a miracle, I don't know what is.
I also want to say thank you for praying for my Dad as he had surgery today. Surgery went very well and he is currently recovering. He will remain in the hospital for about 5 days. Thanks again for all of your support!
