The Jesus Storybook Bible: Pages 28-37 - The Terrible Lie
Day 2 Synopsis: Our central thought for today is that the fruit is a symbol of the entrance of sin into God's perfect world. Up until Adam and Eve ate the only fruit they were instructed not to eat, everything in creation was perfect and beautiful. We were made to live with God forever and never die. Unfortunately, humans chose to disobey and sin and its consequences began. The terrible lie that started this disobedience was from believing Satan (the snake) that God didn't truly have our best in mind or really love us. Unfortunately this lie is what so many people believe to this day. Even though this is the start of the sad part of our story, this is also where we begin to see that we need a Savior. This is why Jesus had to be born on Christmas. He was going to rescue us from our sin and death by coming to earth and paying the price we couldn't afford. Our rescuer was going to save us no matter what the cost; even death on a cross. What sacrificial love!
