The Jesus Storybook Bible: No Story
Day 13 Synopsis: Today is short and sweet. Jesse is the father of King David and the grandson of Ruth and Boaz. This passage in Isaiah is a prophecy about Jesus. Verse one states "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit." This is figurative language stating that Jesus was going to be a descendant of Jesse and King David. This passage goes on to share that Jesus will be an amazing man full of wisdom, justice, power and righteousness.
There are numerous prophecies in the Old Testament (the part of the Bible written before Jesus came to earth as a man) that were written many years before Jesus was born. These prophecies point to the fact that Jesus is our King and Messiah because He fulfills every single prophecy that was made about the coming Savior of the world. This is the first prophecy we discuss and where the name "Jesse Tree" comes from.
