The Jesus Storybook Bible: No Story
Day 10 Synopsis: As our story continues Moses sends men into the Promise Land (Canaan) to see what the land had to offer. The Promise Land was extremely fruitful. They demonstrated how wonderful the land was by bringing back a single cluster of grapes that was so impressive it had to be carried on a pole between two men. However, the only men who spied out the Promise Land and trusted God was able to give it to them were Joshua and Caleb. As a result of their lack of faith in God the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years.
At the end of the forty years Moses passed away, and the Lord chose Joshua to lead the people into the Promise Land. He commands Joshua to be strong and courageous because the Lord would be with Joshua exactly as He was with Moses. God's promise to Joshua is true for us. He is with us and will never leave us. Because Joshua trusted the Lord, he prepared the people to cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land that God was going to give them.
The Christmas Story is where we see Christ come down to earth to be with us. After He is born as a baby on Christmas and dies on the cross for us, He returns to Heaven to make a home for us. However, He doesn't leave us alone. He gives His followers (Christians) His Holy Spirit to always be with us and guide us. We have God living inside of us. How amazing that God will never leave us as He also promised Joshua.
