She continued her story and stated that her family had decided to adopt. I started to smile because I know the joy of adopting and was waiting to hear how her beautiful adoption story unfolded. However, that is not what came next. She went on to tell the listening world that the day after they decided to adopt she found out she was pregnant. What a wonderful miracle! However, I found myself standing in the middle of my kitchen with a slight feeling of disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I am beyond happy for this lovely young woman. I even have friends who have similar stories to the lady who called in, and I celebrate with them. Once upon a time I hoped for the exact same miracle in my life. But at that moment I was hoping to hear an adoption story. God is very good and he chose to give this woman a very special miracle. I continued to just stand in my kitchen as my adorable son bounced away happily with random bursts of laughter and joy.
As I remained in the middle of my kitchen, I started thinking. My feeling of disappointment in the lack of adoption for this family solidified what I already knew. I truly love adoption. I don't feel jilted that this woman received a different miracle than I did. You see, I have also received a truly beautiful miracle. My miracle is different. My miracle is threefold:
1) An amazing young woman in Florida chose life for her unborn child. (She could have chosen abortion, so many women do.)
2) This same strong woman chose to give her beautiful baby as a gift to another family through adoption.
3) Finally, this wonderful woman chose myself and my husband to be the parents of her precious son.
I wouldn't trade miracles with the woman on the radio for anything.
